questions:
 * you don't set a timeout to the syspref cache, so it's 0, so it's "no
timeout", right ?
 * if we write some other caching subs and attach them to this bug, would you
push them before 3.12. I was thinking of getAllLanguages and some other subs
that can be cached & will improve scalability a lot (and lower SQL queries)
