I fixed the QA issues with follow-ups.. the only remaining ones flagged up are
git manipulation errors (and some executable bit errors that are actually
resolved by the manipulations anyway)..  I did not squash commits as I didn't
want to lose author attribution.. there's been a few people working on this one
over the duration of its development life.

I feel this is ready for push myself.. yes it has a few sharp edges and I'd
love to see some of the templates indented more nicely for example.. if you
agree I could do that indent fix at the least as a follow-up here.

Hoping this could be one of the last ones for this release.
