We implemented a solution, replacing line 663 in
/usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Overdues.pm, which originally reads:   

    if ( $branchcodes->[0] eq '' ) {

by:

  if ( !defined ($branchcodes->[0]) || $branchcodes->[0] eq '' ) {
