I did not test with a barcode scanner.  I entered the barcodes manually.

I tried it with three browsers: Firefox, Brave, and Chrome.  It doesn't behave
like an autocompletion issue.  When I hit the Submit button, the Javascript
snippet clears the entry field, then immediately after that something fills the
entry field with the last search term.  I did not move the cursor into the
search field and start typing characters to get that barcode to appear; I
simply hit the Submit button.
