Tested and default date was set nicely.

Hmm, to me it seems that hold end date field is hidden only if
AllowHoldDateInFuture syspref is set off. And if I understand correctly end
date field in opac should only be shown if both AllowHoldDateInFuture _and_
OPACAllowHoldDateInFuture are enabled. So it seems OPACAllowHoldDateInFuture
isn't working as it should?

Good point. We don't currently by my knowledge. Maybe we need one?
