Hi Caroline,
I just tested on master, but this appears to work for me. Here is what I did:

* Found a record, I was using "The C programming language" from the sample
records
* From the detail page: Edit > Edit items in batch
* The table showed as expected.
* From the detail page: Select all > Modify selected items
* The table showed as expected.

Was this in a specific version or could there be another difference in testing?
