It looks like the mss option was added 4 years ago by Tomas and removed 2 years
ago by Joubu:

Nick, Tomas and Joubu - maybe you could resolve that between the three of you?

It looks as Frido's patch is correct, because passing mss won't have any effect
in the current codebase.
