With Nick's help we've been able to limit the problem:

* IntranetCatalogSearchPulldown needs to be active, it defaults to keyword
* Keyword needs to be selected when searching within results

The search then generates the limit as: ...limit=kw:term

This doesn't work

But this will: ...limit=term
