Does this mean there have to be entries even if you don't translate? (sorry, I
should maybe know from the rest of the patch/bug)

Removing translations when the itemtype is deleted makes sense to me.

I think, when an itemtype description is modified, this should not change the
translations or remove them. Libraries will take care of it and a typo fix or
modification should not cause any changes.
