My patch is on top of Jonathans branch (though with it I think we don't need
his last two patches).

I've not actually tested it in the end to end sense of building a package. 
Also, it assumes dependencies for yarn and friends are there.. but I think
that's a fair assumption for a build box right?

Let me know if we're thinking along the same lines David and please feel free
to improve further.
