I think Pedro's tests all make sense, and I agree we should preserve the two
inconsistent cases (on this bug at least) and possibly improve in the future

If Pedro agrees and updates that and other QA issues I think we can call it PQA
if both of us attach our lines

- remove POD from tests file routines
- add exec flag to tests
