<p>In response to Kathleen's question regarding self-checkout machines. </p>

<p>Here at Nan Tien Institute we decided we would include a self-checkout machine in the plans for the library when we relocated to our current located in 2015, as it would free up my time when there were multiple students in need of assistance at once (i'm
the only staff member here, so if i'm occupied everyone else has to wait!). We chose to go with 3M, and i believe that decision was based on both cost and their standing in the market. </p>

<p>The installation itself happened on a day with horrific weather, so the technicians had a hard time finding their way to our library. I suspect this had an impact on their focus for the day, because i did have to call in another technician about a week later
as i couldn't seem to get the self-checkout to work as it should. The follow-up technician was wonderfully helpful (and blessed with easy weather on his drive here). He stayed to run me through everything the machine did, answered all my questions, and gave
me a contact point if i had any further questions (which i did).</p>

<p>The machine itself works very well, its very easy and intuitive, and students are not only comfortable using it, but eager to try it out.</p>
