Please note that the patch was pushed to 3.0.x, not head, and wasn't
submitted for head.  I wasn't able to reproduce bug 2672 in head, so
please check and advise if the bug is in 3.0.x or in head.  I suggest
that this patch be reverted from 3.0.x in the meantime.
