It's difficult to explain. With the Template, there is Page height/width and Card height/width. When I am creating a Layout, I expect the top of my Y axis to be the top of the Card height. However, the top of my Y axis seems to actually be the top of my Page height (minus the top page margin). Yet, when the label batch is exported, the layout seems relative to the Card and not the Page. I'm specifying a Lower left Y coordinate of 274mm but that's actually placing the text at the Lower left Y coordinate of about 44mm on the card. I'm sure my explanation makes no sense, but basically... I think there is something very wrong with the patron card creator - at least when using SI Millimeters for both the Template and Layout... Actually, after I changed my Images data that's caused the X/Y axis for my Text fields to completely change.
I'd say there's a number of factors regarding units that are wrong here...
Just FTR: 1. A lot of code has run off of the keyboard since I wrote this stuff over nine years ago, so there may be changes I'm unaware of and resulting bugs. 2. There may indeed be something buggy about the unit conversion code that I originally wrote. The library I did the work for uses Imperial units and that was my focus. I would definitely check there first. Everything is converted to post script points. 3. The fundamental coordinate system is taken from the PDF ISO 32000-1 standard published by Adobe and has its origin at the lower left corner of the page. In other terms, the page is the first quadrant of the Cartesian Coordinate system. I'd look at the unit conversion code first to see if there's something going on there. Yeah, I think I probably won't work on this, as I just did a workaround to get the cards to display as desired.
