For instance, in NPL's OPAC a search for keyword 'guitar' returns 264 results. At 20 results per page, the last page of results should be page 14. When you click through to page 14, the links at the bottom look like this: << Previous 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 >14< 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 Next >> Clicking through to the pages above 14 bring up no results, so the initial count seems to be accurate.
