Ha yes ok, got it! You the previous item is not inserted, then the barcode cannot be generated. Maybe we could display a value in the barcode field to tell the user it will be auto-generated on saving. I would like to avoid a JS function to calculate the next barcode, we already have perl subroutines to do this job.
