For example, if you set any of the item status fields (Notforloan, Lost etc.) to a value and try to change it to a blank or null value, the change is not accepted. The same thing occurs on all fields in the item record (public note, call#, shelving location etc). The system will accept changes to existing data but you just cannot null or delete the data out completely.
