I think a patch some time ago changed the behaviour on purpose, so that for the GUI we should now use the column for the due_date for displaying a correctly formatted due date and the itemnumber to pull the title from the record. - So I would say that we should change all fines/fees to still show nicely, without using the description from the db - if that makes sense?
