[Bug 22240] New: Add possibility to specify a category of patron in calendar
https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=22240 Bug ID: 22240 Summary: Add possibility to specify a category of patron in calendar Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Tools Assignee: koha-bugs@lists.koha-community.org Reporter: patrick.robitaille@collecto.ca QA Contact: testopia@bugs.koha-community.org Target Milestone: --- Hi, Currently when we add a closing day in the calendar we can not specify a particular patron category. Which means, this day of closure affects all types of patrons of the library and at the same time the circulation rules. It would be nice if when we add a closing day, to have the possibility to specify a category of patrons that would be subject to this closing day. Like that, the rest of the patrons catgory are not concerned by this limitation. It could be an additional option in the page to choose the type of closing day where you would have access to the list of types of users in the library. The calendar mostly affects the holds queue, fines and due dates. Can you explain how you'd use the feature? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes. https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=22240 --- Comment #2 from Patrick Robitaille <patrick.robitaille@collecto.ca> --- Hello, In the case of school libraries, we have several types of users as an example: a library can have users such as students, teachers, employees, library staff, etc. However, when we close days in the calendar, it would be interesting to be able to select one or more types of users who are concerned by these closures. As in the example of winter vacations where teachers and staff go back to work faster than students and want to use the resources of the library, if we closed calendar dates until the start of the school session, this causes problems with the circulation of documents. https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=22240 --- Comment #3 from Katrin Fischer <katrin.fischer@bsz-bw.de> --- What you could do now is use a special due date for the students to ensure their items only get due after the school break and not enter closing dates to the calendar, so the teachers would be unaffected. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. During breaks the students are away so we don't want their books to come due, but the library is open to faculty, staff, and town residents. Setting closed days is much simpler (and safer) than adjusting circulation rules or manually specifying due dates. This would be useful to us multiple times each year. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. You are watching all bug changes.
