I can provide a followup to change from 'Claims' to 'Acquisitions' which is the module claims sits in.. I think that would be the cleanest approach. Currently, without this patch here the functionality is broken.

Why is the funtionality broken without the patch? (probably missing something from previous discussion as I am not sure how we ended up with wanting to rename it here in the first place)
