[Bug 8543] New: enter an 001 at acquisitions
http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=8543 Priority: P5 - low Change sponsored?: --- Bug ID: 8543 Assignee: koha-bugs@lists.koha-community.org Summary: enter an 001 at acquisitions Severity: enhancement Classification: Unclassified OS: All Reporter: nengard@gmail.com Hardware: All Status: NEW Version: master Component: Acquisitions Product: Koha It would be nice to add to the basic bib form at acquisitions the 001. For those in OCLC libraries it's lets the acq person enter the oclc number at the time of ordering so when the catalogers come around to overlay the record they can use the 001 to match on which is better than the isbn or any other field. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=8543 --- Comment #1 from Jared Camins-Esakov <jcamins@cpbibliography.com> --- I have no objection to adding 001 to the basic bib order form, but you cannot use 001 for reliably matching OCLC#. 001 is the system control number, and can only be relied upon for records downloaded directly from OCLC. This means that any libraries that use vendor load records as part of acquisitions (a common workflow in my experience) will end up with problems when they expect matching to work. You should be using 035 for matching. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=8543 --- Comment #2 from Nicole C. Engard <nengard@gmail.com> --- In this case the librarian was asking for this because he has the OCLC number now and enters it in the 001 at the time of acquisition in his current system. So in this scenario it will be right :) But I of course do know what you mean :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. You are watching all bug changes.
