[Bug 4998] New: OPAC Browse by Hierarchy fails badly, links to old Koha Wiki
http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=4998 Summary: OPAC Browse by Hierarchy fails badly, links to old Koha Wiki Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: HEAD Platform: All URL: cgi-bin/koha/opac-browser.pl OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: P5 Component: OPAC AssignedTo: oleonard@myacpl.org ReportedBy: oleonard@myacpl.org QAContact: koha-bugs@lists.koha-community.org Estimated Hours: 0.0 If you go to "Browse by Hierarchy" page (opac-browser.pl) and you have not previously configured it, you get a message pointing you to the old Koha Wiki: "The browser table is empty. this feature is not fully set-up. See the Koha Wiki for more information on what it does and how to configure it." The link is easily corrected, but I don't think it is in our patrons' best interests to explain to them why a feature we have offered them doesn't work. They certainly don't need to be redirected to a developer's wiki. We either need a more patron-friendly error message or we need a way to hide the link when the feature hasn't been configured. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug.

Engard <nengard@gmail.com> --- I just came across this for the first time and agree 100% - it needs to patron oriented, not librarian/administrator oriented. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug.

http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=4998 --- Comment #2 from Marc Véron <veron@veron.ch> --- Still valid on current master (3.19.00.005) I think the warning message should be re-worded in Opac and there should be a more technical error message in Staff client (About Koha: System Information). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes. To me it's not a bug: You should not put in production a non-configured opac. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the QA Contact for the bug. You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=4998 Katrin Fischer <katrin.fischer@bsz-bw.de> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |katrin.fischer@bsz-bw.de Summary|OPAC Browse by Hierarchy |Show less technical message |fails badly, links to old |in OPAC, when 'Browse by |Koha Wiki |Hierarchy' is not fully | |configured --- Comment #4 from Katrin Fischer <katrin.fischer@bsz-bw.de> --- The wiki link is pointing to the new wiki these days. So this is ok. I am rewording the title a bit - I like the idea of displaying information on the system information tab and possibly show a neutral message in the OPAC. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the QA Contact for the bug.
