I am trying to edit the sort-string-utf.chr file to map characters with diacritics (acute and grave accents) to letters without accents.

The problem I am running into is that I am trying to open up the files in a program called jEdit. The editor tells me that the French version is in cp1250.

The English version is utf-8 encoding and the diacritics are showing up in the file with all sorts of extra characters and square boxes.

Any suggestions at this point would be appreciated.

John
