I am suggesting removing the tarball from our release process. I don't think anybody is using it anyway.
It's extra work for RMaints, and it does not seem necessary.
I know that there are some Koha libraries running on RedHat-derived distributions. While such sites could in principle maintain their installations from Git checkouts, they are a constituency of likey tarball users.
