Okay, I diagnosed the cause of the error, but now I have a new question.

In the koha-conf.xml file I commented out the last two lines concerning the memory caching, memcached_servers and memcached_namespace.

That took care of the issue concerning being able to go to the web installer via the full url and getting the fatal error message when I use the just localhost:8080.

Now, the question is, how important, or unimportant, is the memcached commands?
