Hi

When compiling the current Koha Community Newsletter I found some
problems with Koha documentation links:

1. I couldn't find the release notes for Koha 21.05.13 and 21.05.14 anymore:

* https://koha-community.org/koha-21-05-13-released/
* https://koha-community.org/koha-21-05-14-released/

Instead both URL just link to https://koha-community.org/

2. I couldn't find the Koha schema for Koha 22.05 - instead it gives me
a "404 Not Found":

* https://schema.koha-community.org/22_05/

3. The URL to the Koha 22.05 manual

* https://koha-community.org/manual/22.05/en/html/

says it is the "Koha 22.05 (development) Manual (en)" while on page
https://koha-community.org/documentation/ it still says Koha 21.11 is
the stable version.

4. I'm never quite sure which Koha versions are still supported and
which are not. I always thought Koha is usually supported for 18 months
but it seems this has changed sometime. For now I believe (according to
https://koha-community.org/documentation/ ) these are the supported
versions:

* Koha 22.05 (stable)
* Koha 21.11 (oldstable)
* Koha 21.05
* Koha 20.11
* Koha 20.05 - last revision is from 1 December 2021
* Koha 19.11

Is this correct?

Best wishes: Michael

The links are slightly different:

https://koha-community.org/koha-version-21-05-13-released/

https://koha-community.org/koha-version-21-05-14-released/

I think it still needs to be added/generated, it's part of the post
release checklist.

It's also on the to do list to update I think.

For this cycle we have RMaints signed up for 22.05 to 21.05, see:

https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Roles_for_22.11

I've added the question about the LTS version (19.11) to the agenda for
the next dev meeting.

Hope this helps,

Katrin

Hi :)

It's Bug 30733 - Simplify translatable strings
https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=30733

The sooner this can be merged, the more work it will spare for
translators that are currently working on 22.05 because it's still early
enough to be backportable.

We have an opportunity to clean a lot of the strings that are an
absolute pain to translate. The long ones with tons of %s %s %s %s %s
part of which must be retranslated over and over each version when one
thing has changed.

They can be fixed with the same simple method as Bug 29602 - We must be
nicer with translators
That is adding <span> tags around the strings to have nice broken down
approach.

So if anyone can take a look at 30733 even for a partial review of the
code that would be awesome. Because this patch would be a huge help for
translators as it gets rid of most of the terrible to translate strings.

Cheers,

Hi all,

In the Koha SQL Library we talk about "Runtime Variables" which are MySQL
"User-defined Variables":
https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/SQL_Reports_Library#Runtime_Variables

Well today I noticed that MySQL might be removing that functionality in the
future: "Previous releases of MySQL made it possible to assign a value to a
user variable in statements other than SET. This functionality is supported
in MySQL 8.0 for backward compatibility but is subject to removal in a
future release of MySQL."
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/user-variables.html

I didn't see any reference to this in the MariaDB KB and I can't recall how
far the two databases have diverged at this point but could be worth keeping
in mind: https://mariadb.com/kb/en/user-defined-variables/.

Of course, as noted in the Koha wiki, it looks like user-defined variables
aren't really needed post 18.05 anyway.

Dear All,
I am trying to create new authority types in KOHA 21.11 on Ubuntu 20.04.
I am following this documentation Create new authority type - Koha Wiki ( https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Create_new_authority_type )
In the section on Zebra,

* I cannot understand how the att numbers are defined
* I cannot follow the next two steps, which require record.abs file. I cannot find the file. Neither the one in biblios nor in authorities folder.
I need to create two authorities, namely, publisher and place of publication to accommodate my existing data which I will be migrating to KOHA.

Support will be greatly appreciated

With best regards,

Naveen Ali
