Folks, one of our customers is looking to use Koha with IE7. We will probably need to test Koha on IE7 and then fix all significant issues in a short period of time. We don't want to overcommit, so should we take this on? How many issues are we likely to find? And of what type - css, js? I really appreciate any input on this. - Savitra

From what I've seen, the thing you'll notice the most is that IE's CSS rendering is pretty different from everyone else. That may create issues which are a problem or it may not. We have tried to correct JavaScript problems with Internet Explorer whenever we find them, but it's likely you'll find more.
As for over-committing, I think this depends partly on how much they want Koha on IE7 to look exactly like Koha on Firefox or Chrome. I'll happily test and sign off on patches to address IE7 compatibility fixes. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org

...and it didn't take me long to find one. I've submitted a patch, but take a look: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5741 This is probably the most common JavaScript problem in Internet Explorer we've seen in the past. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org
Owen, thanks very much for the input, this makes me more comfortable. I think we should be able to resolve this type of JS issues quickly and we may get the customer to accept the IE CSS rendering as is. If we do this we will create bugs and submit patches for your signoff. Thanks, Savitra On Fri, Feb 11, 2011 at 11:14 PM, Owen Leonard <oleonard@myacpl.org> wrote:
