Re: [Koha-devel] Language Field in Biblio table
Hi All! Hi Chris! This is a great idea! It will help improve the correspondence between the Biblio records and MARC which has several places to note the language of the item - notably the 041 field which holds the language codes for the language of the work, the language of the original if a translation, etc. There is also a place in the 008 fixed data field to store the code - e.g.. eng for english, fre for french, ger for german, etc. There is a listing of all such codes on the MARC STANDARDS page of the Library of Congress Web Page.

Hi All
As part of the work we did for UNIDO we added a language field to the biblio, so you could specify the language a book was written in. We also made this searchable from the intranet and the opac.
Now that we have a stable fork, I was thinking i'll add this into the cvs HEAD if people think its a useful feature. Ill also check what other changes I made and if they are useful add those as well.
