Installer request: no screen clearing
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 (Somebody tell me if this info should be going to a better place...) The practice of clearing the screen in the installer is not the best idea, IMO. As you can see, i've had a lot of error messages, and these might get missed by the installer clearing the screen. Additionally, i can't scroll back in my terminal to see the full install output. I'd rather see the installer just write to the screen as normal, with some sort of colour (as it does at present) or separator to show that a new task is being started. - -- Paul http://paulgear.webhop.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE++Djk0yv0OWRYqWwRAgU3AJ4xwargkRbzfiEpQdXLxAiRQPhsTACfcowy 8/vkdUI9QP6lISsTGhgAaoo= =sSuh -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I agree. The behaviour at beginning was NOT cleaning the screen. Then we added the clear (don't know remember when) I think we could roll back. MJR, what do you think, as installer hacker (kudos for this new title :-D ) ? -- Paul POULAIN Consultant indépendant en logiciels libres responsable francophone de koha (SIGB libre http://www.koha-fr.org)

I will do this. I am currently (very slowly) working on output. My basic idea was to get our headings as blue, information as green, input as white and stderr of subprocesses in red. There will be options to disable colour and formattings. I have added this to bug 490, "Poor display". -- MJR/slef My Opinion Only and possibly not of any group I know. http://mjr.towers.org.uk/ jabber://slef@jabber.at Creative copyleft computing services via http://www.ttllp.co.uk/ Thought: "Changeset algebra is really difficult."
