Any reason why Koha 2.2RC1 isn't showing up under 'latest file releases' on the sourceforge main page? Joshua On Tue, Nov 16, 2004 at 03:01:06PM +0100, Paul POULAIN wrote:

2.0.2 is the latest file release in the koha series. I think 2.2.0RC1 should be put in the koha-unstable series until 2.2.0-release because of this sort of problem. -- MJR/slef My Opinion Only and not of any group I know Creative copyleft computing - http://www.ttllp.co.uk/ Unsolicited attachments to the pipex address deleted Will HLF fund tree-killings? http://www.thewalks.co.uk/

Users, testers and release manager think Koha 2.2.0RC1 is stable enough to be used in real world. Some bugs are still here, but none is really "dangerous". As i've said before, i'll release a 2.2.0RC2 (or RC1b, i don't know) and plan to release RC as quickly as needed until everybody is OK. So the right place is in "stable" branch. Why are you fighting 2.0 and 2.2 releases off against each other for space on the summary page? Some people don't think RC1 is stable enough to be used in production yet, as you can see from the bug reports coming in. Please make a "koha-2.2" or "testing" category if you object to being labelled as "unstable". 2.2 RCs should not replace 2.0 full releases. Thanks for promising to release 2.2 RCs often. The CVS->tarball conversion is horrid, which is part of the reason why I moved 2.0 to GNU Arch. As no-one has expressed an opinion, today I'll start making sure that 2.0's fixes are put back in CVS HEAD. -- MJR/slef My Opinion Only and not of any group I know Creative copyleft computing - http://www.ttllp.co.uk/ Unsolicited attachments to the pipex address deleted Will HLF fund tree-killings? http://www.thewalks.co.uk/

Please make a "koha-2.2" or "testing" category if you object to being labelled as "unstable". 2.2 RCs should not replace 2.0 full releases. I disagree. Koha 2.2RC1 in many ways is more stable than 2.0 (for instance, 2.0 does not support full MARC database searching and by my definition
Since 2.2 will shortly be the new "stable" Koha it makes sense to advertise it on the Sourceforge summary page--which is the traditional place that I at least go every time I want to install any version of Koha (I assume it's the same with other Koha sys admins). Not to say that Koha 2.0 should go away. Mozilla did this with Firefox--Firefox early release candidates were available for download from the main mozilla page. Regardless of whether RC1 is stable enough for all production environments it's certainly close--the more folks that download and intend to use it in a production environment and the more bug-testing and QA feedback we'll get. that means it's not as MARC compliant.
