Koha 3.12-alpha and RM newsletter
Greetings! This morning I released Koha 3.12-alpha to the world. Release notes are at http://git.koha-community.org/gitweb/?p=koha.git;a=blob;f=misc/release_notes... The tarball is available at http://download.koha-community.org/koha-3.12.00-alpha.tar.gz and a Debian package will follow in the squeeze-dev distribution of the debian.koha-community.org repo sometime soon. If you have a spare server you use for testing, please consider testing this release. The more it's tested, and the more bugs are located and fixed, the more stable the final release will be. And, while we're on the subject of testing, there are lots of patches on Bugzilla that need to be signed off: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=dorem&remaction=run&namedcmd=Needs%20Signoff&sharer_id=1 Sign off on a patch, get immortalized in the Koha release notes! Finally, you might be interested to know that I wrote an RM newsletter: http://koha-community.org/quarterly-missive-3-12-rm-2/ Regards, Jared Camins-Esakov -- Jared Camins-Esakov Bibliographer, C & P Bibliography Services, LLC (phone) +1 (917) 727-3445 (e-mail) jcamins@cpbibliography.com (web) http://www.cpbibliography.com/

In the release notes, I'm not sure it'd be good to describe "Mozilla Persona is similar to OpenID" when that doesn't say what OpenID is (OpenID allows you to log in with your Wordpress or identi.ca or friendica or Yahoo or Google or...) and Koha doesn't yet support OpenID logins, sadly. But, I'm not wild on Persona, as you might gather from comments on http://blog.bigballofwax.co.nz/2013/02/25/mozilla-persona-login-support-in-k... and http://www.news.software.coop/comments-with-openid/1271/ so maybe it's good if libraries are left in the dark ;-) Regards, -- MJ Ray (slef), member of www.software.coop, a for-more-than-profit co-op. http://koha-community.org supporter, web and library systems developer. MJ (and all), In the release notes, I'm not sure it'd be good to describe "Mozilla
Persona is similar to OpenID" when that doesn't say what OpenID is (OpenID allows you to log in with your Wordpress or identi.ca or friendica or Yahoo or Google or...) and Koha doesn't yet support OpenID logins, sadly.
I am happy to be guided by the community as to what goes in the release notes. I will look forward to receiving copy from you describing the new feature. Please provide it within the next few days as otherwise it is likely to get lost in the shuffle as I focus my energy on a polished and low-bug release. I would strongly encourage you to implement OpenID support for 3.14. Perhaps you can share some of the code that makes Mozilla Persona logins possible. Jared
I would strongly encourage you to implement OpenID support for 3.14.
I'd be happy to. I've taken over http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=3237 and would love to hear from anyone willing to sponsor this work.
