IndependantBranches features...
Hello, For libraries with IndependantBranches=ON, 1 question : Only the home library can edit an item. I think the holding library should be able to edit it as well. The use case : an item is returned after an issue, and the holding library sees that there is something bad on the item (page removed, DVD scratched... atm, the library can't update the item. I'll submit a patch for that, unless someone object. -- Paul POULAIN http://www.biblibre.com Expert en Logiciels Libres pour l'info-doc Tel : 04 91 31 45 19
IMO that should be a system preference. - L -----Original Message----- From: koha-devel-bounces@lists.koha.org [mailto:koha-devel-bounces@lists.koha.org] On Behalf Of Paul POULAIN Sent: 07 May 2008 17:18 To: koha-devel@lists.koha.org Subject: [Koha-devel] IndependantBranches features... I was speaking of additem.pl -- Paul POULAIN http://www.biblibre.com Expert en Logiciels Libres pour l'info-doc Tel : 04 91 31 45 19

I was speaking of additem.pl For US libraries I'm quite certain allowing holdingbranch to edit an item would be very unexpected behavior for additem.pl ... but perhaps it would be acceptible for moredetail.pl. Really, this should be solved with a more granular permissions framework rather than setting system-wide rules IMO.

I agree that the IndependantBranches system should be investigated to be splitted in more detailed possibilities. For example : - reserve only my books / anyone books - search only my members / all members - catalogue only homebranch items / home or holdingbranch items - ... but I think it's something we should do in 3.2 In the mean time, I suggest to have a more open item editing option than what we have now. Should not harm too much libraries happy with "edit only homebranch" behaviour, will be nice for libraries that need "edit home or holdingbranch" Comments still welcomed. -- Paul POULAIN http://www.biblibre.com Expert en Logiciels Libres pour l'info-doc Tel : 04 91 31 45 19
Sure but you can't just change the behaviour of a feature. Having an option to change the behaviour would suite everybody. - L -----Original Message----- From: koha-devel-bounces@lists.koha.org [mailto:koha-devel-bounces@lists.koha.org] On Behalf Of Paul POULAIN Sent: 09 May 2008 11:19 To: koha-devel@lists.koha.org Subject: Re: [Koha-devel] IndependantBranches features...
