Improvment of ACQ during hackfest in Marseille
Hi to all, as CINECA we decided to invest in improvment/bug fixing of ACQ module. I will be at hackfest in Marseille next week. I try to speck with everyone about this topic, no problem if you send email to the list because you are not in Marseille. I think the points could be: - Who want to work on ACQ ? - Improvment/bug fis, sign-off, QA - Tests on modules - Tax problems (see the mails of Sonia BOUIS) - Revamp work on EDI The main improvment we want to develop is to create an abstract layer to connect with an external system (SAP, PeopleSoft, etc.) Bye Zeno Tajoli -- Dr. Zeno Tajoli Dipartimento Gestione delle Informazioni e della Conoscenza z.tajoli@cineca.it fax +39 02 2135520 CINECA - Sede operativa di Segrate
Hi Zeno, The EDI work is undergoing a rather major re-factoring and clean up at our end at the moment. Colin Campbell is doing the majority of the work and the unstable branch is currently in our private repository to prevent anyone accidentally using it whilst it's in such a fluid state. I'm hoping to post up the Version 2 patches reasonably soon, but please take this as a polite.. plese hold off an basing anything on that bug for now as things are about to change dramatically in there. I've been quietly getting in touch with any parties I've become aware of who have been basing work atop it to prevent any clashes; I'm hoping that something can be shown/submitted during hackfest, though this hugely depends upon Colins current workload. One suggestion I'd make for interested parties to discuss re Acq at the Hackfest is whether the current big monolithic C4/Acquisitions module could be meaningfully broken up and the interface to the data made more consistent. DBIC could do a lot of the heavy lifting for you. At the moment a lot of processing is done as side effects in various routines and when you try and address a problem (e.g. in price calculation) there are multiple places to hunt it down and you are left with the suspicion that its still getting redone somwhere else perhaps if we broke the big Acq module into objects like Order, Basket etc with cleaner interfaces we could make a bit more progress on the big questions the mosule users want addressed.
