In the ongoing quest to help out by tracking things gripes & feature requests I see: tables and table installation, population questions/gripes virtualhost &/or no-root-access adjustments perl module installation automate control (.htaccess) of intranet access? MARC21, still a big "wanna have" I have one to automate setting up DB for people who use separate DB servers. (I know it is just switching the line in the DBI call, but it wouldn't hurt to add that). and on an unrelated item... NT installing (Andrew Hooper). I'll add him to the FAQ. Thought: A lot of this could be handled by a Q&A install script, I'd think. The 'manual populated' tables -- could we add a geek (ok, sysadmin/tech admin) section to the intranet area, to create some ease of use here or something? This seems to be a discontent issue Nick

YYYEEESSS (note it's MARC access, not just MARC21 For me, in France, it's UNIMARC ! )

The scripts are in CVS area (/admin/ directories) (note they work fine only if you launch updatedatabase2.pl which I've just commited today). When ppl here will have validated them, I just will have to add a link to the bottom line of the intranet. -- Paul

Hiya Nick I have a big favour to ask if you have time. Can you take the list archives, and the INSTALL file, and try to tidy up the install, adding perhaps in the bit about changing DB servers, and there needing to be some data to make it work, etc .. It'd be good to have an INSTALL file more up to date for the next release. And perhaps even posted the newer install file up somewhere to help ppl with their 1.1.1. Does that sound like a good idea? And something you'd want to do. Feel free to tell me no :-) Chris -- Chris Cormack Programmer 025 500 789 Katipo Communications Ltd chris@katipo.co.nz www.katipo.co.nz
Will give it a shot. If you were to ask me to automate it, I might have paused, but since INSTALL is just destructions... er, instructions, I'll give it a shot. Nick

Excellent, looks like Roger Buck has already started. http://www.saas.nsw.edu.au/wiki/ :-) So you might like to get in touch with him. rog@saas.nsw.edu.au Chris -- Chris Cormack Programmer 025 500 789 Katipo Communications Ltd chris@katipo.co.nz www.katipo.co.nz
Would those of you who either know (as in, know those not on the devel list) or are maintainers or prospective maintainers of Koha sites in non-english languages be willing to help translate the INSTALLs, FAQs, and other documentation into your respective languages? My original thought was to run the docs through the Babelfish, but that would be suboptimal for a lot of reasons. This isn't urgent :) as, apparently, INSTALL is about to be overhauled, but just internationalizing the package doesn't help those needing install assistance. Nick
