Z3950 searching on MARC as well as UNIMARC targets
Fridolyn [AND others as well]: Thanks for responding. I tried connecting to BNF, but it failed me again. Could this be related to the userid and password? (I also tried without user and pw.) Please note that the other target mentioned earlier functions well. But could you answer the following question please? Or someone else from the list? Would it be interesting for you to Z3950-search MARC21 targets too from your UNIMARC Koha? I made some changes in the script and am able to search both "worlds". MARC and Card view work fine. Only obstacle remains the Import, because it assumes that all records are in the system MARC flavour. It would not be so hard to convert most (important) fields vice versa when copying them to the framework in the addbiblio script. Hi, Marcel, Fridolyn BibLibre did an enhancement to z3950 target so that user can choose an xslt for the results. We would be interested in seeing what was done, you can take a look there : http://git.biblibre.com/?p=koha;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/origin/wip/limoges/M... It should enable the libraries to add more sources and take advantage of xslt to import those entries into their own catalogue. I am quite curious about your developments Marcel. Hope that helps. -- Henri-Damien LAURENT Le 08/06/2011 18:33, Fridolyn SOMERS a écrit :

Hi Henri-Damien, Your changes look very good. I would like to incorporate them; we were thinking the same. I made some similar changes to the code in order to also include SRU targets. Could you pass me the stylesheet you use to switch the marc dialect? Will send you my code after I added the xslt and some sru query translations. Thanks! The Library of Congress made UNIMARC to MARC21 conversion charts. http://www.loc.gov/marc/unimarctomarc21.html Horrifying to behold, however... I would suggest focusing on converting the variable fields (200-802) and expecting the cataloger to just input the rest of the codes in the fixed fields manually, which is pretty simple most of the time. Converting all those codes would be a lot of work for very little savings. On 09/06/2011 09:13, LAURENT Henri-Damien wrote:

BibLibre already spent time on converting MARC21 to UNIMARC via XSLT. Did anyone of you coincidentally already work on a conversion the other way around? Would like to incorporate these conversions with Z3950 searching. Thanks..
