OT: Web archiver for the Koha-Patches list has "eaten" part of a post of mine
Hi, I just noticed that the Web archiver (Pipermail) for the "Koha-Patches" mailing list has "eaten" (deleted, cropped...) part (the second "half") of a post of mine. The post has been sent through Gmail. Other web archives that also archive the "koha patches" mailing list, like Markmail - http://www.markmail.org/ - have the full post available. Compare: [Koha-patches] [PATCH] 3040 : seriestitle mistaken as collection title http://lists.koha.org/pipermail/koha-patches/2009-July/003905.html ... with: Re: [Koha-patches] [PATCH] 3040 : seriestitle mistaken as collection title - Ricardo Dias Marques - org.koha.lists.koha-patches - MarkMail http://markmail.org/message/6lfwvzmcmbqsmoz3 Any ideas for why this has happened? 1. pipermail is buggy and the Mailman developers ignore even simple bugfixes (I submitted a patch years ago but the bug continues); 2. Googlemail is arguably buggy and triggers one of the pipermail bugs. I forget the exact details of the Googlemail bug, but I do remember Google seemed to argue their implementation was valid and - as I wrote - it is arguable rather than a clear-cut bug. Workarounds including replacing pipermail with lurker or one of the other systems, but there are already other archives. The real fix is to fix pipermail, but that's a big job and it doesn't seem it would ever be included in Mailman. Of course, Google's preferred solution is for everyone to use GoogleGroups, but that's absurd. I suspect the post may be intact in the mbox download, but sometimes they're not.
