Hi everybody, I have been practicing with test installations of Koha over the past few months, and I am now about to start using it for a real-life library for an educational institution. I am fascinated by the project, and in the spirit of its name (Koha=Gift), I already feel obliged to contribute - if possible. The easiest way I might do that, is perhaps by providing an Italian translation. I searched for "italian" over this mailing list's archive, and could not find any result: is it safe to conclude that there is no Italian translation currently available? [Koha-2.2.0 doesn't seem to include any either; same for the CVS] Before committing myself, could I ask some useful pointers to primers in (a) CVS; and (b) PO files and kbabel? Seems no. I've collected some italian people interested in koha in these years, but all more or less like me: no specific library culture, no very big involvment. Some people that have a library, have a computer and can install koha, but not library people, so there's no one that can add books to the database and handle circulation. ;) Some other (scools, ...) think that koha are too complex, and slip to some other tools. So, seems you are the first really involved in this, gook luck! ;) -- dott. I think I can help you here. I've installed a kartouche website for french translation. It works quite well. I can add italian if you want (as it's iso-8859-1 as well a french, it's quite easy. not so easy for arabic or russian translation...) You just must tell me who is the leader for this translation. All volunteers will then be able to translate strings. 2 suggestions : you should announce the italian translation effort on koha & koha-dev mailing list. Here is the way to translate : * connect to http://bureau.paulpoulain.com/kartouche * read Intro / Usage then "Start translating". I suggest you begin by css_opac_it_IT, it's shorter & more useful (=opac in italian can interest even french or zealander libraries) Note to all : when you "Start translating" the opac, you do "suggestions". The translator coordinator (=guiseppe) must validate them. I'll send to guiseppe how to validate suggestions. Then, I must "export" the po file, and regererate the translation. Guiseppe being the leader, he will tell me when i must do that. It takes 3 minuts when you know well how to do it.
