Thanks everyone who was able to join us for the meeting yesterday! Due to the higher than usual network traffic Zoom is taking a while to make the recording available. We'll update you all once it is posted to youtube. If you asked to be added to the Acquisitions SIG Google Group that's been taken care of today. The permissions of that group have been fixed and now anyone can go to it and Join: https://groups.google.com/a/koha-us.org/forum/#!forum/acquisitions-sig *Here are some of the questions we discussed at the meeting:* 1. Is there a way to automatically place holds on patron's purchase suggestions? Currently Koha does not do this but there are a few enhancements in Bugzilla that dance around this need: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=10440 and https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5785 are two. 2. When you delete an item what happens to the budget cost? Is there a difference between deleting the item from the basket vs. the item record? 3. How accurate are Koha Acquisitions reports? How do libraries handle budget tracking, especially at the end of the fiscal year? 4. With library closures how is that affecting ordering and receiving? 5. What are you doing to promote digital resources at this time? Social media such as facebook, instagram, and twitter have been used by libraries to spread awareness and access to their digital resources. Or to notify patrons that they can still get physical materials by placing holds and using the 'drive through' window. Is there a difference between deleting the item from the basket vs. the item record? This is based on my experience. The answer is it depends. 1. If the item was received in acquisitions, then the budget cost will remain the same. An example, you order a new book. The book arrives and you receive it. The book goes out to circulate and the first person to borrow it damages it. You delete the item record for the book from Koha. The budget will still reflect the cost of the book. 2. If the item was not received in acquisitions, then the budget will be reduced by the cost of the book IF you delete the item from the BASKET. Take it from hard won experience. DO NOT delete an item record from the cataloging side if it is in a basket and has not been received. Really bad things happen and we had to call Bywater to get them fixed. Deleting the item from the basket is the way to go when the item has not been received. Does this answer all your questions about deleting items? Rhonda K.
