*sigh* a quick hack to make the script attempt to process the SUTRS format (if
((ref($rec) eq "Net::Z3950::Record::USMARC") || (ref($rec) eq
"Net::Z3950::Record::SUTRS"))), and I get a result back like this:

$result = Failed to retrieve record #1

So there's defintely somehting bad happening earlier in the script. 

I'll keep hunting - if this isn't an appropriate way to report my
troubleshooting, please let me know.
