Here's the staff's record of what's been happening at NPL:

General Weirdness and a New Patron  -- James  10-8-03  1:33 pm
APL just made a new card for P75851. Between the time it took to put her in the
computer at the Info desk and for her to walk to the Circ desk, she had
magically checked out 3 DVDs...in Nelsonville!
I called NPL just to see if those three movies had been recently checked out,
but they denied any involvement.

This is truly weird. I started to submit a bug report, but then couldn't figure
out what the bug could be. From the files, I can see that all three DVD's were
returned from her card one minute before she checked out two items in Athens.
But it also looks like none of the DVD's where really checked out in Nelsonville
until the next day (2 of them) and the day after (the last one). It's possible
that the DVD's where only out one night and got put on the wrong card due to
some sort of file-locking problem, but that doesn't seem too likely. Just strange!

This just happened to me: Created a record for 0082111, and upon confirming the
record, there were already three items checked out to her: 36000000020338,
36000000002917, 36000000016420.

Here's how it looks: I was adding a patron record at the same time that Roxanne
was adding one in Coolville. My patron got added, and Roxanne's didn't. But her
patron's books got put on my patron's record. We could probably do some kind of
controlled test for this: It's obviously not that rare an occurrance if it's
happened twice already (that we know of).
