I changed the default template in 2.2 to remove the mandatory indicator. I
altered  line 173 of memberentry.pl from this:

my @relationships = ('workplace', 'relative','friend', 'neighbour');

...to this:

my @relationships = ('','workplace', 'relative','friend', 'neighbour');

I'll assign to MJR so he can decide whether to fix in 2.0
