I think this part of Koha is one of the most unstable/poorly written.

SAN-OP fixed many many things & improved many, many things... on head.
and it's impossible to port their improvements to rel_2_2

I personnaly can't fix those problems (as none of my libraries ever complained
of them, they don't use them I bet)
