Summary: MARC 21 008 record editor plugin deletes first six 008
                    positions
           Product: Koha
           Version: HEAD
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: blocker
          Priority: P2
         Component: MARC
        AssignedTo: paul.poulain at free.fr
        ReportedBy: koha at alinto.com
         QAContact: koha-bugs at nongnu.org

1. BUG.

Under some circumstances, using the MARC 21 008 plugin deletes the first six
008 positions.	In consequence of the deletion of the first six positions, all
other values are shifted six positions to the left. I have observed that this
occurs at least when the first six positions for 008 are blank and other
positions have values upon opening the plugin, but have not tested what other
conditions may trigger this bug. Maybe it was triggered in all conditions and
I was working too quickly to notice.

The first six positions for 008 are for date entered on file and should be in
the form of yymmdd, the record creation date. The first six positions are
often left blank form some copy cataloguing sources. The plugin indicates that
they will be filled automatically.

2. CONSEQUENCE.

Values which are not in the correct position for a fixed field such as 008
cannot be read. Some 008 positions are required for even minimal level
records.

3. WORKAROUND.

Avoiding the use of the 008 plugin does avoid the manifestation of the bug.
Editing fixed fields in a record editor without at the very least position
guidance for the current cursor position is a big problem.
