If you edit an item record from additem.pl, any fields in the db not in the
editor are deleted. Here are some that shouldn't be in the editor (system
managed), and that shouldn't be deleted:

issues
renewals
reserves
datelastborrowed
datelastseen

I suspect the reason this bug has crept into 3.0 is that circulation no longer
updates those fields, which is a separate bug.
