how large was your database before importing this file ?
I had this problem when working on NoZebra, but only on HUGE (like 50 000)
bunches of datas.
And I thought I solved it by lowering some values when building indexes at the
price of a small limit in title ordering.

so :
- what is your mysql max_allowed_packet ?
- what was the catalog size (# of biblios) ( a 180KB file CAN'T reach the
limit)
- are you able to reproduce the problem with another file ?
