What I've done is created a barcode plugin for 3.0 that you can link to in your
frameworks for your barcode field. The barcode plugin will check the authorized
value for autoBarcode. There are two common barcode styles I added, more could
be added easily enough if I understood the requirements (the two I added are
simple incremental: 1, 2, 3, 4,  ... and year-based : 2007-0001, 2007-0002,
etc.
