the template uses '-' and '.' to pass circ params, and the script splits on
these.
This causes '-' to be an invalid char in categorycode, '.' in itemtype, and
both of them in branchcode.

Need to redesign the template to fix this, or explicitly disallow these chars.
Obviously, the former is the better solution :)
