The "new patron" menu button offers some choices for what kind of patron to add
(adult, child, staff, etc), but after choosing one of those types the
"category" form field always defaults to the first choice (juvenile). I see a
couple of choices:

1. Pre-select the first patron category within whatever group was chosen. So if
my "Adult" category group offers "Patron," or "Student," pre-select the first
one, "patron."

2. Change the "new patron" menu button to offer specific choices, not just the
patron category groups, but the actual patron categories.
