I found what what was wrong in my zebra configuration.
etc/zebradb/marc_defs/marc21/authoties/record.abs was containing:

  meln 152$b authtype

I changed to:

  meln 942$a authtype

The question remains: why? Apparently this file is now valid is the Git
repository...
