<nengard> preference: patronimages - this preference wants me to enter a file
extension for images of patrons - I have mine set to 0 and yet it still let me
upload images - what does this do?  And can I use more than one extension?

explanation changed

 <fbcit> it appears I missed it there which explains why it is missing on
existing installs
